چکیده

Available routing strategies for traffic networks may be classified as feedback and iterative strategies. Recently, a new predictive feedback strategy has been developed incorporating the advantages of both kinds of strategies and attenuating their disadvantages. The new strategy runs a mathematical model once at each time step and bases its feedback routing decisions on the predicted traffic conditions. Preliminary investigation indicated that very satisfactory routing results could be achieved by use of this strategy. In this paper, the performance of the new strategy is evaluated in more detail by comparison with the feedback and iterative strategies. Copyright © 2002 IFAC

Anticipative model predictive control for ramp metering in freeway networks

When implementing ramp metering in the context of freeway networks, traffic can spontaneously re-route due to the applied control actions. Although this re-routing can have an important impact on the resulting traffic situation in the traffic network and on the performance of the traffic network as a whole, re-routing is not automatically included in current model predictive frameworks for free...

Anticipative ramp metering control for freeway traffic networks

We develop an anticipative model-based predictive traffic control approach for ramp metering in freeway traffic networks. If ramp metering is implemented in a freeway network with alternative routes, traffic can spontaneously re-route due to the response of the drivers to the applied control actions. Although spontaneous re-routing can have a significant influence on the resulting traffic situa...

Two-level Trajectory-Based Routing Protocol for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks in Freeway and Manhattan Environments

This paper focuses on the routing protocol issue in two important environments for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANET): Manhattan and the Freeway. A novel protocol called Two-level Trajectory Based Routing (TTBR) protocol is proposed. Deterministic vehicles movement permits advantage to be taken of the map info to build a specific local trajectory to reach the destination node. However, in order ...

Comparative Performance Analysis of AODV,DSR, TORA and OLSR Routing Protocols in MANET Using OPNET

Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are receiving a significant interest and are becoming very popular in the world of wireless networks and telecommunication. MANETs consist of mobile nodes which can communicate with each other without any infrastructure or centralized administration. In MANETs, the movement of nodes is unpredictable and complex; thus making the routing of the packets challenging....

The Feedback Based Mechanism for Video Streaming Over Multipath Ad Hoc Networks

Ad hoc networks are multi-hop wireless networks without a pre-installed infrastructure. Such networks are widely used in military applications and in emergency situations as they permit the establishment of a communication network at very short notice with a very low cost. Video is very sensitive for packet loss and wireless ad-hoc networks are error prone due to node mobility and weak links. H...
